Tim Ryan, a civil engineer with Oppenheimer Engineering Co., Kansas City, is the new city administrator for Platte City. He has done work for the cities of Raytown, Grandview, Clinton, and Excelsior Springs.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bill Nash, Platte City, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open reception hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Jo Karen and William Brown, at the Leavenworth, Kan. Country Club on August 19 from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Platte County Commission Thursday approved a court order to transfer to the county coroner $6,900 from the emergency fund. The money will be placed in separate line items with $6,000 going to autopsies, $500 going to mileage and $400 going to telephone. The coroner told the commissioners that the reason for the money request is due to an increase in unexplainable deaths.
Platte County voters Tuesday elected Carol Tomb in the Democratic primary and Steve Folck in the Republican primary. They will oppose each other in the November general election for Platte County presiding commissioner.
