A 35-year-old man has been charged with felony property damage for in connection with damage to a room at the KCI Lodge Hotel, located at 11300 NW Prairie View Road, Kansas City in Platte County.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Robert Packer of Kansas City in Platte County. He is accused of knowingly damaging room 301 at the hotel on July 1. The KCI Lodge Hotel received a call from a hotel guest saying there were loud noises coming from the room. Upon entry it was later determined that there had been grinding done to the door lock to an adjoining room with a small grinding tool.
There were also damages to the air conditioning unit, the hanging light and the room telephone. Drapes and other small items had been throw out the third story window. The man was advised he needed to come down to the office and speak with the hotel owner about damages and the man refused, allegedly saying he was on drugs and “might have got some bad stuff.”
Police arrived a few minutes later and placed the man under arrest. Police identified the man as Robert G. Packer, a guest at the hotel.
Police attempted to interview Packer but he refused to speak to police without an attorney, according to court documents. The hotel owner listed the value of damages done to the room at $1,290.
If/when Packer is taken into custody his bond will be $7,500, cash or surety, and will be ordered to have no contact with the hotel.
