Spring clean-up set by county public works dept. The Platte County Public Works Department will be sponsoring a county-wide clean-up Thursday, April 11 through Saturday, April 13.

Platte County residents will be able to bring items for disposal to the county public works facility at 15955 Highway 273 in Tracy. Hours for the drop-off will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

Items such as tree limbs, furniture, appliances and tires will be accepted. Many items may be dropped off free of charge. However, minimal fees will be charged to those who wish to drop off the following items (cash only):

Passenger tires without wheels-$1 per tire; passenger tires with wheels-$5 per tire; truck or tractor tires-$5 per tire; truck or tractor tires with wheels-$15 per tire.

Stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, air conditioners, microwaves, televisions, computers-$5 per item.

Disposal of household hazardous materials, waste material, farm chemicals or paint will not be permitted. However, the county will accept auto batteries and used oil (in no larger than five gallon containers).

Anyone who wishes to drop off items for disposal must present identification (such as personal tax property receipt) that proves they are a resident of Platte County.
