A couple of late filings in the closing days have ensured the summer election season will be active in Platte County.
Republican party primaries will be needed in August for two positions. Incumbent Kathy Dusenbery, incumbent county commissioner for district one, will be challenged by Beverlee J. Roper of Weatherby Lake, who filed Tuesday, the final day for doing so.
The office of treasurer will also need a Republican primary, with Rob Willard of Kansas City and Nancy Armstrong of Platte City squaring off. There are no Democrat candidates for treasurer, nor are there any for the first district county commission post.
Democrat Sharon Aring filed on the final day Tuesday for the position of district two county commissioner. She will face Republican Duane Soper in the general election in November. Incumbent Jim Plunkett is not seeking reelection.
