School leader gets DWI at Parkville

The Leavenworth, Kan. School District Superintendent will in be in court on Thursday in Parkville to face driving while intoxicated charges.

Kelly Harris was arrested around 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 about two blocks from the Parkville Police Station at 63rd and Lewis Street.

Parkville Police Chief Kevin Chrisman said officers noticed two cars with engines running in a parking lot that was otherwise empty, well past the closing time of area establishments. He said officers approached the cars and found Harris in one car by herself talking to another person in the car parked next to hers.

Harris was arrested at the scene. The other person talking with Harris was not detained.

According to Chrisman, Harris’ blood alcohol content was allegedly .132. The legal limit in Missouri is .08.
