A 40-year-old Parkville man was arraigned this week in Platte County Associate Circuit Court after being charged late Friday night with threatening a Platte County Judge. Brian E. Manges faces one count of tampering with a judicial official.
Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said his office filed the felony charge against Manges after prosecutors and the Platte County Sheriff’s Department learned late Friday afternoon of the threat against Platte County Associate Circuit Judge Daniel Czamanske.
According to court documents, Manges threatened Judge Czamanske March 17 in a profanity-laced statement to Parkville police officers as he was being arrested for driving while intoxicated. Manges allegedly said he knew where the judge lived and was going to “take him out. It ain’t a [expletive] threat.”
Manges was arrested without incident by Platte County Sheriff’s Deputies at about 11 p.m. Friday night, shortly after the charge was filed.
He is being held in the Platte County jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond. If convicted, Manges faces up to seven years in prison.
Authorities say Manges’ verbal tirade was caught on videotape by an in-car police video camera.
The charge against Manges is merely an accusation, and Manges is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
