The Platte County Pirate wrestling team knocked off its
conference rival Cameron Dragons last Tuesday.
The Pirates won the dual at Cameron by a score of 61-18.
The Pirates started the night out winning their first
match, setting the pace for the rest of the night. Senior
Brett Rolofson won the 103-pound match by a pin fall that
came 1:30 into the match.
In the 112-pound match, junior Jason Callaway gave the
Pirates their second win of the night by defeating his
opponent by an 8-4 decision.
The Pirates suffered their first loss of the night when
sophomore Caleb Dixon lost the 119-pound match by a pin
fall that came at 5:42 into the match.
Sophomore Steve Fisher won the 125-pound match with a
pin fall that came just 3:24 into the match.
The Pirates lost their second match of the night when
sophomore Joe Hobbs was pinned at 2:10 into the 130-pound
match.
Freshman Tommy Grutzmacher was able to fight out a win
by pin fall that came 4:03 into the 135-pound match.
The final loss of the night for the Pirates came in the
140-pound match when sophomore Jake Riner lost by a pin
fall 2:16 into the match.
The Pirates got back on the winning side when junior
Brock Wittmeyer won the 145-pound match by a pin fall.
Senior Jake Fisher knocked off his 152-pound competition
with an overwhelming 17-2 technical fall.
Senior Robbie Campbell continued the winning streak when
he won the 160-pound match with a pin fall that came at
just 1:18 into the match.
In the 171-pound match, junior Nick Jaros pulled off
a victory with a pin fall that came at 3:59 into the match.
Senior Zach Sherman won the 189-pound match with a quick
and decisive pin fall that came after only 0:55 seconds.
Junior Nick Butrous was able to win the 215-pound match
by a pin fall at 1:58 into the match.
Senior Charles Grutzmacher concluded the action for the
Pirates that night when he won the 275-pound or heavyweight
match by a pin fall.
The Pirates have a busy weekend of upcoming action, as
they will host Maryville at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17,
for Senior/Parents Night.
Then the Pirates will host the Platte County Invitational
beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 18, and it will
be continued at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19.
