Accident
stalls traffic on interstate
A traffic accident stalled the northbound lanes of Interstate
29 near the Platte River Bridge just north of Platte City
Friday evening.
The accident occurred when a northbound 1993 Mercury
driven by Ernest Glauser, 82, of St. Joseph, traveled
off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and
came to rest in the northbound lanes of I-29.
A wood post from the guardrail flew into the southbound
lanes of the interstate and struck a 1999 Honda driven
by Glenn E. Owen, 53, of Kansas City.
According to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol,
Glauser was issued citations for careless and imprudent
driving and for no seatbelt. Glauser suffered minor injuries
in the crash; Owen was not injured.
The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m Friday.
