A Platte County grand jury has handed down an indictment
charging Linda S. Collins, 38, of Parkville, with assault
of a law enforcement officer in connection with a traffic
accident last month.
Collins was the driver of a vehicle that struck the rear
of a Platte County Sheriff's Department patrol car being
driven by Kevin E. Anderson, 32, of Platte City, in the
early morning hours of July 31.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report on the accident
indicates Collins is also charged with driving while intoxicated
and careless and imprudent driving.
Anderson's patrol car was stopped at a stop sign at Prairie
View Road at 56th St., Kansas City in Platte County at
the time of the accident. Both drivers were taken to the
hospital with moderate injuries.
Last week, Platte County Prosecutor Tammy Glick said
Collins is being held in the Platte County Jail on a $50,000
cash only bond. Authorities allege Collins' blood alcohol
content at the time of the wreck was .34.
The assault charge is a Class B felony, Glick said.
