Funding
request tabled
An item to request federal funds for the Humphrey's Access
Bridge at the county commission meeting Thursday had to
be tabled regarding a stipulation, according to Dale Thomas,
director of public works.
The Missouri Department of Transportation, which approves
federal funding for projects like the Humphrey's Access
Bridge and the Sharp Station Bridge, approved $600,000
in funds for the Sharp Station Bridge Project.
According to Thomas, that approval came before the new
figures totaling $830,000 were submitted to MoDOT regarding
that project.
In order for the county to request federal funds for
a new project (the Humphrey's Access Bridge), they must
await a new approval from MoDOT regarding the $830,000
request of funds for the Sharp Station Bridge project.
Thomas stated that the item would need to be tabled until
a later date, waiting upon the approval from MoDOT.
In other business, Cheryl Thorpe, director of tourism,
announced a contract for services between the county and
Kansas City Adventures for step-on tour guide program
development services. The contracted services will provide
two main objectives: provide step-on tours of Platte County,
as well as the production of brochures and etc. for trade
shows regarding Platte County. The contract is for Feb.
15-Dec. 31 of 2002. The services are a budgeted expenditure
and will not exceed $6,500.
