An out-of-state resident claimed he was suffering from a psychotic episode caused by LSD when he allegedly tried to leave KCI Airport property in a Hertz Rental Car that he was not authorized to drive.
The Platte County Prosecutor's Office charged Brent Fraser, 48, of Los Angeles, with a class C felony of tampering with a motor vehicle in the first degree.
According to court documents, Fraser attempted to leave the Hertz Rental Car lot in a 2014 gray Toyota Highlander just after 2 p.m. on Aug. 23. A rental car attendant asked Fraser to provide his driver's license and rental car agreement at the exiting gate. Instead, Fraser allegedly handed over two sets of keys belonging to another can rental company in the area.
Fraser was initially questioned at the scene by KCI Airport Police. He was later escorted to a holding facility located on airport property, where he revealed he was on LSD.
His bond has been set at $10,000.
