One person is dead and another hospitalized after a multi-passenger motorcycle wreck Thursday.
John P. Bledsoe, 41, of Huron, Ks., was killed on Interstate 29 when his Harley Davidson slid out of control due to a mechanical defect, according to the accident report.
The motorcycle overturned, ejecting Bledsoe onto the interstate where he was struck by a 2015 Ford Escape.
Driver of the Ford Escape told Missouri State Highway Patrol Officer J.D. Odgen he unintentionally struck Bledsoe while trying to avoid striking the motorcycle and co-passenger.
The female passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 46-year-old Michelle Bledsoe, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the North Kansas City Hospital.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene on Thursday at 1:33 p.m. by the medical examiner.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 29 were shut down and traffic was rerouted for hours until a preliminary investigation was completed.
