Investigation continues in
death of KCI gift
shop worker

by Valerie Verkamp
Landmark reporter

Authorities have not yet determined a cause of death of 21-year old KCI Airport worker Husenet M. Yassin of Kansas City.

Her body was recovered near a pond located at the entrance of the Kansas City International Airport. Her last known address was 100 block of NW 114th Terrace located near Hwy. 169 and Cookingham Drive. A source said Yassin had worked at a gift shop inside the Kansas City International Airport for about three years.

Her body was sent to the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office, but so far the medical examiner has not officially determined an exact cause of death. Police continue to investigate all leads.

Sergeant Kari Thompson said, “It does appear based upon our preliminary estimates and based on the medical examiner that there was some kind of medical issue going on.”

An employee at the Kansas City International Airport made the discovery Monday, July 21 just after 3 p.m. near Paris Street and Cookingham Road. Kansas City airport security continues to work in conjunction with the Kansas City Police Department on the investigation.
