Platte County's
growth shown
in building permits

by Kim Fickett
Landmark reporter

In the final building permit report for the year 2001, Gale Cantu of the planning and zoning office reported to the Platte County Commission that 235 single family housing permits were issued this year.

Total valuation for single family housing permits is $26,369,258.

In December, 25 permits were issued by the county for single family dwellings alone. Cantu told commissioners that the year 2001 totaled 545 building permits issued throughout the year, with 45 of those in the month of December.

In other business at the commission meeting on Thursday, Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative requested a temporary occupancy permit for the Platte-Clay Fuels facility located on HH Highway in Platte City.

Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative stated that while construction of an office area and a propane storage area has been completed, they still need to make exterior improvements to the facility required by Platte County.

The company elected to give the county a check for $13,000 to ensure the improvements will be made. The county commission approved the issuance of an occupancy permit not to exceed six months and to expire July 3.

County commissioners voted to reappoint Dave Rittman as a Platte County representative to the board of equalization. Rittman was reappointed to a three-year term to be effective Jan. 9 and will expire Jan. 8, 2005.
