Two persons were taken into custody at an alleged meth lab found at Basswood Resort east of Platte City Tuesday morning.
No charges had yet been filed by late afternoon Tuesday.
Platte County Sheriff’s Department Cpt. Erik Holland said officers at around 6 a.m. responded to a call regarding stolen property in a vehicle at Basswood. They made contact with two people associated with that vehicle at a cabin and detected an odor associated with the cooking of methamphetamine.
The officers and two suspects and were treated at an area hospital for potential contamination from the suspected meth lab, which Holland said was inactive at the time. Central Platte Fire Department units and Northland Regional Ambulance District were on the scene.
“It was not an active lab when officers were there but it did have components to make meth,” he said.
