Motorcycle crash claims life

A Topeka, Kan. man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday morning east of Farley in Platte County.

Eric A. Scott, 31, of Topeka, was killed along Farley Hampton Road at a blind corner just west of Baker Road. Scott was riding a Kawasaki ZZR 1200 motorcycle when the accident occurred just before 10 a.m.

According to a statement by the Platte County Sheriff's Department, Scott was traveling to fast for the road when he approached the corner. The motorcycle went off the right side of the road, but did not strike anything.

Scott struck a road sign and “suffered significant internal injuries.” Scott was transported by MAST ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Scott was wearing a helmet at the time and there were no other vehicles or people involved in the accident.

The accident is still being investigated by the sheriff's department, but the preliminary cause of the accident was listed as driving too fast for the conditions.
