Dearborn Bank Robbed Tuesday

By Alan McArthur
Landmark reporter

The Platte Valley Bank in Dearborn was robbed on Tuesday about 11:30 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white male, between the ages of 20 and 40 with dark hair and dark complexion. The man is about 5'3” tall with a slight build and a stubby beard. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a stocking cap, sunglasses, jeans, and a Carhartt jacket.

Platte County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the scene and secured the bank before agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, Kansas City field office arrived. The FBI is now investigating the case.

According to Jeff Lanza, FBI special agent, the man walked into the bank and made an oral demand for money from one of the tellers at the bank. The man did not show a weapon to the teller.

The man then left the bank and there were no witnesses as to his direction or means of escape. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

No further information was available as of Tuesday afternoon.
